Christmas Fun

A couple of days before Christmas, the kids were shaking and sorting, and trying to figure out what was in the those presents. Gabe was convinced that one of his a cookies in it by how it sounded. So, when anyone would move it, he would say, "Please be careful with that one, it might turn into crumbs." It was pretty funny. He was so sure that is what it was, he would say, "I know that is what it is Mommy, I can tell by your face." Cute kids!

This Christmas we were blessed to be able to just stay at home. I love those Christmases the best.....quiet ones at home. We got to open presents on our own time, and we took until 2:00pm or so to get them all open. For those of you who know us well, you'll know we didn't start until 9:00am. We all like our sleep, but even Hailey woke up around 8:15. We opened one at a time, and we all got to see what everyone else was getting....and I think it helped up to be more grateful for each one too. Hailey sat playing with her art kit from Santa Clause, and Gabe wanted to open each toy and play with it for a little bit before opening another. It was cute to see them having so much fun with each thing. We got a keyboard this year for the family, since we couldn't afford or find room for a piano in our house. We thought this was the next best thing. The kids are going to start piano lessons. Katie, we wish you were here to teach them.
So, we get the next best thing, our next door neighbor, Jason, is going to teach them for us. It is a trade off for watching their kids a day or two a week.
The kids seem excited for the opportunity,
I think that they will do great!

Gabe loved his transformer stuff this year, got the movie and Bumblebee from Papa and Grandma Judy, Santa brought Metroplex(with drill bit mini con), and his favorite were the glow in the dark underwear, just kidding. He looks at me funny when I talk about them.
But I think he is excited about them though.

Hailey loved her art stuff from Santa, the little bead set, which Mommy REALLY loves( ya, not so much, I like to vacuum them up) but, Hailey will spend hours on them, and the moon sand from cousin Hannah to add to the sand she already had from Papa and Grandma.

Then, there were the good old stand-bys, socks, candy, oranges.....and the specially requested pomegranates. Hailey loves those little seeds.

Our bird, Jet, even got a Christmas present, can't leave anyone out! He got a coconut house.

All in all we had a really great Christmas, we read the wonderful Christmas story from Luke 2 in the Bible, and watched The Forgotten Carols DVD (another gift from Marc & Sarah). I love the feelings that we get to feel when we make sure that our Savior, Jesus Christ, is part of our Christmas. After all, He is the reason we celebrate all of this.
